Sacramento Kings vs Boston Celtics Preview
Sacramento Kings Team News
The Sacramento Kings have been having a rough couple of games after managing to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers back on the 19th, dropping games to the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks.
With a record of 35-35, they currently sit 5 games behind the eighth seed, and it’s starting to look like they may be out of the playoff picture entirely.
De’Aaron Fox has continued to have some decent numbers playing alongside DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, but with Domantas Sabonis still out, they have been struggling with their inside defence.
FINAL: Kings fall to Bucks 114-108.
👑 DeMar DeRozan: 22 PTS, 4 AST, 2 REB
👑 Keon Ellis: 20 PTS, 9 REB, 6 AST
👑 Jonas Valančiūnas: 18 PTS, 7 REB, 1 AST— Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) March 23, 2025
Moreover, their offence hasn’t been as smooth as they would like, with tons of isolation plays and hero ball throughout the entire game.
DeRozan still hasn’t gotten over his obsession with mid-range shots, and the rest of the offence doesn’t flow.
That being said, they are a very talented team, so when they do manage to work together, they are able to take down real contending teams. Against the Celtics, they will have their work cut out for them, but it’s not a lost cause.
Boston Celtics Team News
Boston has been in top shape in the new year, winning plenty of games and solidifying their spot as the number 2 seed in the tough Eastern Conference. Coming fresh off a 5-game winning streak, they will be looking to push it to 6 against a weaker Sacramento Kings roster that’s missing their inside presence.
Jaylen Brown is still a big maybe for Monday’s game as his bone bruise looks to be quite severe, but Jayson Tatum and the Celtics backcourt should have no issues putting away the Kings.

Jrue Holiday should also be back for Monday, which will go a long way toward slowing down the young athletic De’Aaron Fox.
All in all, facing off against the Sacramento Kings, the Celtics are heavy favorites even in their injured state. Their speed, skill, and overall tempo will be tough for the Kings to deal with, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Sacramento Kings vs Boston Celtics Prediction
- Pick: Boston Celtics to win
- Odds: (20Bet)
- Score prediction: Sacramento Kings 110 -125 Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are overwhelming favorites going into the game for a good reason, as with their tenacity on defence and smooth offence, the Kings will likely struggle to keep up.
Jrue Holiday and Jayson Tatum will lock up De’Aaron Fox and Demar Derozan, respectively, while on offence the Kings simply have no answer for Tatum. Tatum is likely going to light them up from beyond the arch, and if they try to contest, he is a strong slasher with the ability to finish with power.
It is unfortunate that Jaylen Brown looks like he will be out for the match, but even without him lacing up, the Celtics have plenty of options.

Kristaps Porziņģis should also play after missing a couple of games with an illness, which will be an even bigger issue for the Kings down the stretch. Porziņģis can easily dominate the boards and add some scoring when it’s needed.
While Sacramento may look like they’re out of luck, they have been quite “streaky” this year, especially when somebody gets a hot hand from three. Just last week, on the 19th, they managed to beat the number 1 seed in the east Cavaliers, so it’s not like they can’t put down a top team.
Offensively they do have some decent options, as they do play some of the best isolation ball in the NBA. It doesn’t look pretty, but when shots are dropping, they can go head-to-head with some real juggernauts; but the real problem is going to be on the defensive side of things.

As we mentioned, the Kings have nothing going for them inside, with no solid big men as long as Damontis Sabonis stays out. If Tatum decides he is cutting to the basket, they really don’t have any options other than to try and cut off the passing lane.
Realistically speaking, the Boston Celtics should be able to control the pace throughout most of the game as long as they don’t get caught up playing isolation ball alongside the Kings. Their shooting is solid, defence is top-tier, and they’ve got all the incentive in the world trying to solidify that number two seed going into the playoffs.
Sacramento Kings vs Boston Celtics Betting Tip
- Pick: Jayson Tatum to score to score to score 27.5 or more
- Odds: (20Bet)
Jayson Tatum will likely take up a much larger scoring role against the Sacramento Kings, with Jalen Brown still out of rotation. Tasked with creating much of the Celtic’s offence as he brings so much gravity whenever he touches the ball, he should have no issues shooting above smaller defenders and making it to the basket with some quick drives.
- Pick: Teams to win both halves: Boston Celtics
- Odds: +260 (20Bet)
While the Celtics may not win every single quarter, they should have enough of a command over the match to win both halves, even if it’s only by a point or two. The King’ defence is weak, and as long as the Celtics lock in on their main scorers, they should have no issue winning both halves.
