There was another victory for Real Madrid at the weekend, as they ultimately broke Getafe’s resistance to clinch a 1-0 triumph in La Liga. They’ve now won 10 out of 11 outings across all competitions this season. Los Blancos are already in a strong position to seal a top-eight finish in the Champions League, having defeated Kairat and Marseille on matchdays one and two.
Apart from a humiliating 5-2 derby defeat to Atlético Madrid, it’s been a satisfying start to the campaign for Xabi Alonso. He’s certainly found a way to get the best out of Kylian Mbappé, while Jude Bellingham showed brief flashes of what he can bring to the side in just his second start of the season last time out.

Alonso’s team had 75% of the ball at the weekend, although they needed Arda Güler to come off the bench to provide the incisive pass that set up Mbappé for the game’s only goal.
Some light rotation is expected here, with the Real Madrid boss sure to have one eye on Sunday’s Clásico. Antonio Rüdiger remains sidelined, but Dean Huijsen, Ferland Mendy, Dani Ceballos, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Dani Carvajal are all close to returning from injury. We may see a few of those players feature at some stage on Wednesday night.

Even their young star Kenan Yıldız struggled to find space and make an impact in that contest, while few other Juve players have stepped up to deliver meaningful attacking contributions this season.
Injuries have perhaps played a role in some of their recent struggles. Igor Tudor will once again be without Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal, Fabio Miretti, and Carlo Pinsoglio.
