After a rocky start to the season that was dominated by transfer speculation and uncertainty over Alexander Isak’s future, Newcastle United have now settled into their groove.

Therefore, changes are inevitable from both coaches, though Howe looks to have much better options. Jacob Ramsey is likely to be drafted in to bring energy in midfield, while Sandro Tonali and Fabian Schär are two experienced players who should come in and ensure there’s not a big drop-off in the home team’s level.

This may be one of those matches where he’s slightly more conservative and asks his players to largely play on the break.
A rotated Newcastle lineup may also struggle to immediately get into their flow in an attacking sense. With both teams dealing with a busy schedule, it’s perhaps only natural that the intensity drops off slightly here, and the Magpies are generally better when they’re able to play at a high tempo, with the crowd involved at St James’ Park.
Given that, we may not get a classic cup tie in terms of end-to-end attacking soccer, and there’s a strong chance that at least one of these sides misfires in the final third.
