The Brooklyn Nets look like they’re going into full rebuild mode this season, with 23-year-old Cam Thomas getting up tons of shots and developing. Unfortunately for the young buck, even with his strong play, the Nets are simply not up to par this season, with no inside game and an overall lack of defence and scoring.
Ben Simmons has also continued to disappoint, scoring under 10 points per game, sitting at just 6.1, while guys like Dennis Schröder have similar assist numbers while scoring 19.5 points per game.
Cam Thomas and the other young guys on the Net are certainly going to get some great reps this season, but winning a ton of games really doesn’t look like it’s on the cards.
Boston Celtics
As the reigning NBA champions, Boston has started off the season with a decent record, dropping games here and there but remaining in near-top form. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have continued to put up great numbers night and night, even without a real big man to defend the inside.
Despite not having any imposing big man, with Al Horford really showing his age, the suffocating perimeter defence brought by guys like Jrue Holiday has made many defences think twice.

The Brooklyn Nets will seriously struggle to keep up with the Boston Celtic’s pace, especially with how fast they’ve been to start the year. Jayson Tatum, Jalen Brown, and Derrick White have created one of the deadliest frontcourts in the NBA with shooting, slashing potential, and some suffocating defence.
However, as we mentioned, if Boston does have a weakness, it’s on the inside. They have been struggling with Kristaps Porziņģis out until at least mid-December, but an aging Al Horford has been able to at least provide some defence.

From the get-go, Tatum and Brown will likely attack the rookie Cam Thomas and point guard Dennis Schröder, effectively grinding the Net’s offence to a halt. While this is happening, Jrue Holiday is likely going to sit on the hip of whoever is having the best scoring night, effectively shutting down Brooklyn’s scoring potential alternative.
On the offensive side of the ball, Tatum and Brown should have no issues getting to the basket, even with Nic Claxton playing in the paint. He’s a solid shot blocker but not an elite rim protector by any means.
As long as Boston sticks to their gameplan and doesn’t let the rookie put on a scoring clinic, they should have the upper hand.
