Montreal vs Los Angeles Preview and Team News
Montreal Team News
Montreal like to defend deep and play on the counter when they get the chance to do so, and the home team will follow the same tactic in this game as well.
Montreal also like to send their fullbacks forward to support their attackers, but this strategy has not reaped them rich dividends recently. The season has not gone as well as they would have hoped for it to, and this will be in their mind when they meet Los Angeles in this match.
They are currently ranked last in the Eastern Conference table, and it will take a lot of effort from them, and results elsewhere going in their favour, to move out of this position.

Montreal usually like to play with a 4-4-2 formation, and this allows their midfielders to regroup quickly after losing possession (which has happened far too often for their liking in this campaign!)
In this game, Bryce Duke and Synchuk have been ruled out owing to muscle injuries. Dominik Yankov will also be unavailable in this game due to a groin injury. Meanwhile, Joel Waterman has been suspended.
George Campbell has picked up a thigh strain and has been sidelined until the middle of June this year while Fabian Herbers has sustained an ankle injury.
Montreal predicted lineup vs Los Angeles (4-4-2): Sirois; Craig, Bugaj, Neal, Petrasso; Sealy, Loturi, Piette, Clark; Vrioni, Owusu.
Los Angeles Team News
Los Angeles, who are one of the better-placed sides in the MLS, are currently ranked fifth in the Western Conference table. They like to play in an attacking 4-3-3 formation in which Ordaz and Martinez hold much of the responsibility in the final third. LA do not prefer sitting deep, and as a result of this philosophy, maintain a high line as well.
This strategy also allows them to employ the offside trap, which has provided them with results throughout the campaign.

In this match, LA will have to make do without the services of Maxime Chanot, who has been sidelined with a head injury.
With Hugo Lloris in goal, however, their defensive unit will heave a huge sigh of relief as the former Tottenham Hotspur man is known for his wisdom between the goalposts and excellent hand-eye coordination that gives the defenders operating in front of him enough time to see the ball and pass it to their more attack-minded teammates.

The others in the LA squad are fit and available, and this should reduce some of the headaches that manager Steven Cherundolo is bound to have. Bouanga is another exciting player who needs to be kept an eye on, as he usually makes the left flank his own with excellent dribbling in one-on-one situations and shooting whenever he finds himself within range of the goal.
Los Angeles predicted lineup vs Montreal (4-3-3): Lloris; Palencia, Long, Segura, Hollingshead; Tillman, Jesus, Delgado; Martinez, Ordaz, Bouanga.
Montreal vs Los Angeles Prediction
- Pick: Los Angeles to win
- Odds: -114 (20Bet)
- Score prediction: Montreal 1-3 Los Angeles
We expect Los Angeles to win this game as they are clearly the better side on display, both on paper and form. Montreal have had very little go their way this campaign, and one can almost feel sorry for them in the way they have had to battle through their problems.
While injuries have been relentless, at times, Montreal have also been their own worst enemies with the poor decisions they have taken, both inside their own half and in their opponents’. Their attackers have hardly been able to showcase their potential, and this might be the reason why Montreal are languishing right at the bottom of the standings.
There have been a total of just two matches recorded between these teams in the past, both of which have been won by LA quite comfortably. However, it is worth remembering that the two teams last met each other in 2019, when LA got the better of Montreal by a 4-2 scoreline.
Montreal vs Los Angeles Prediction, Betting Tip
- Pick: Total over 2 goals
- Odds: -313 (20Bet)
A total of over two goals will be expected in this game, with most coming from the visiting side’s arsenal. The front trio of Bouanga, Ordaz and Martinez will be expected to weave magic. Meanwhile, Owusu and Vrioni will be feared the most on Montreal’s side.
Nonetheless, LA have an advantage given that they are known to move in and out of possession quickly, and whenever they get the ball after losing it, they take up positions that make them extremely hard to contain. They will surely have an upper hand over their opponents in this game regarding the result, scoreline, and the number of goals scored.
