Liverpool vs Leeds United Preview and Team News

Liverpool Team News

After a shoddy start, Liverpool currently sit fourth in the table. One of their weaknesses has been defending. They’ve conceded 12 goals from set pieces this season – the worst record in the league. However, the Reds have done fairly well of late, winning their last four matches.

They showed grit to cling on to their lead in their recent 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. They posted 67% possession and took 14 shots in total. Most importantly, 11 of those shots came from inside the box.

Mohamed Salah is away on national duty with Egypt for the AFCON, while Giovanni Leoni, Joe Gomez, Stefan Bajcetic, Wataru Endo, and Alexander Isak have been ruled out with injuries.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Leeds United (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Kerkez, van Dijk, Konate, Frimpong; Jones, Gravenberch; Wirtz, Mac Allister, Chiesa; Ekitike.

Leeds United Team News

Leeds United come here on the back of a brave 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Sunday. They’ve been unbeaten in their last five matches, but are still ranked a lowly 16th in the table.

Brenden Aaronson created the most chances (5) in their game against Sunderland and will be a crucial player in the center of the park against Liverpool, too. In midfield, he’ll be helped out by German international Anton Stach, who won the most duels (10) against Sunderland.

The visitors are not plagued by too many injuries, except for those of Sean Longstaff and Daniel James. Defender Joe Rodon also picked up an ankle problem soon after conceding against Sunderland and had to be taken off.

Leeds United predicted lineup vs Liverpool (3-5-2): Perri; Struijk, Bijol, Bornauw; Gudmundsson, Stach, Ampadu, Aaronson, Bogle; Calvert-Lewin, Okafor.

Liverpool vs Leeds United Prediction

  • Pick: Liverpool to win
  • Odds: -182 (20Bet)
  • Correct score prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Leeds United

We expect Liverpool to win, with historical precedent supporting that view. The Reds have won five of their last eight meetings with Leeds, going unbeaten in seven of them and suffering only one defeat.

Moreover, the Whites’ away record has been extremely poor – they’ve won just one match of nine on the road. On the other hand, Arne Slot’s men have collected 19 points at home this season.

Liverpool vs Leeds United Prediction, Betting Tip

  • Pick: Over 1 goal in the first half
  • Odds: -179 (20Bet)

We expect more than one goal to be scored in the first half. Liverpool are an extremely attack-minded side and should lead the way (30 goals). Striker Hugo Ekitike has been in prime form, with five goals in four matches. The Frenchman has duly slotted in for the injured Isak and also bagged an assist against Wolves

For the visitors, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been on fire. The former Everton man has scored seven goals in their last six games. Interestingly, his scoring run is the longest by a player from England since Jamie Vardy in 2019.
