Liverpool vs Arsenal Preview and Team News

Liverpool Team News

Even though Liverpool have been crowned the champions of the Premier League, they will be expected to put up a fair fight when they take on rivals Arsenal in the 36th round of the Premier League on Sunday.

Had the title race not already been decided, this game would have held a lot of significance since Arsenal are currently ranked second in the table and would be contesting for the title.

Liverpool will have to make do without the presence of Joe Gomez in this game but manager Arne Slot will not risk too many of his youngsters in this crucial fixture and remove its sanctity.

The Reds were soundly thrashed 1-3 by Chelsea in their previous game, and they will be looking to overcome that defeat and end the season on a high. Liverpool’s wingplay is renowned across the world, with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah putting up a show for the ages.

Attacker Cody Gakpo is usually the one who fills the gap in the attacking trio and makes it seem as if almost every plan that gets executed by Liverpool has been planned down to the minute in advance.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Jones, Gravenberch; Salah, Elliott, Diaz; Jota.

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal, who will undoubtedly see this season as one that could have ended differently, will want to go all-in against Liverpool in this game. However, manager Mikel Arteta knows that nothing can change the outcome of the league title, with Liverpool already being crowned the champions.

When the season began, Arsenal showed a lot of promise with their attacking link-up play, but as it progressed, their performances seemed to taper off just at the wrong time to allow Liverpool an advantage.

Moreover, Arsenal lost a lot of key attackers through injury at crucial times, and this hurt Arteta’s team badly. In this game, England attacker Bukayo Saka will be tasked with the responsibility of breaking through the Liverpool defence, and, in particular, taking Virgil van Dijk apart.

Saka’s exquisite runs down the flanks have allowed Arteta to invert his wingers and given the license to his fullbacks to bomb forward and create dangerous balls in the final third.

Arsenal are ranked 2nd away from home this season, and might be given some help by their travelling supporters. As for recent injuries, Martin Ødegaard seems to be a doubtful starter owing to a knock he picked up recently while the likes of Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel, Kai Havertz and Jorginho are all not expected to be available.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Liverpool (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Merino, Partey, Rice; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Prediction

  • Pick: Liverpool to win or draw
  • Odds: -323 (20Bet)
  • Score prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal

Liverpool have a bit of an advantage in this game, and we expect them to either win or draw. Out of the 37 games recorded between the two teams in the past, Liverpool have won 14 and drawn 15. They have only been beaten by Arsenal on eight occasions in the past.

At home, Liverpool’s record gets even better as they have won or drawn 16 out of the 18 matches played between the two sides. Arsenal have only beaten Liverpool twice at Anfield, with the last of these victories coming in the EFL Cup in October 2020. The only time prior to that when Arsenal beat Liverpool at Anfield was in 2012.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Prediction, Betting Tip

  • Pick: Both teams to score
  • Odds: -152 (20Bet)

With Mohamed Salah leading the ranks for Liverpool and Saka bursting through the wings for Arsenal, what else can we predict other than both teams to score (BTTS)?

Salah is the leading goalscorer in the Premier League this season and will be awarded the Golden Boot in all likelihood by the end of this campaign. However, he will also receive a lot of support from the likes of Gakpo and Diaz in attack.

For Arsenal, Leandro Trossard and Mikel Merino have to step up to help Saka out in times of need, while Gabriel Martinelli, too, will be expected to showcase some of his skills with the ball at his feet. The Brazilian is known for his penchant of taking opposition defenders on in one-on-one situations.
