Houston Rockets vs Golden State Warriors Preview
Houston Rockets Team News
Despite entering the playoffs as the number two seed in the West, the Houston Rockets have found themselves down 3-1, facing elimination. The Rockets have been losing out to the scrappier style of play the Warriors have been bringing to the table, and with no true superstar, they’ve been falling apart in the crunch.
Alperen Şengün’s 19.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists a night have been solid, but without any true scorer, it hasn’t been translating to success. It seems like the high-tempo all-rounder style of basketball Houston was playing during the regular season isn’t quite stacking up.

Their inside defence hasn’t been as strong as many would hope, with guys like Steven Adams not stepping up as much as anticipated.
Nonetheless, there have been some glimmers of hope, especially on the offensive side of the ball. If Houston gets hot from beyond the arc, they can be a seriously dangerous roster.
It will take quite a performance to get out of a 3-1 hole, but in terms of winning the next match to push a game 6, they have a solid shot.
Golden State Warriors Team News
Golden State has already outperformed many of our expectations, with the slimmer bench not really posing as much of an issue as we thought. Stephen Curry is definitely leading the charge with his 29 points a game, but the overall roster has been decent.
However, with the sheer gravity Curry has been grabbing, it’s given Golden State’s role players far more breathing room to shoot and make decisions. Jimmy Butler has also been playing pretty well on the defensive side of the ball, but his 14 points a game aren’t really that impressive.

Speaking of defence, that has also been a strong point for the Warriors, with Butler averaging 2.5 steals and Draymond Green averaging 2.8, along with 1.7 blocks.
We also can’t understate how important it is to have some real playoff experience if you want to go deep into the postseason, which Golden State has. Being able to keep your cool under the biggest lights is a skill many overlook.
Despite oddsmakers putting the Warriors as the underdog going into game 5, they still have a great shot at walking away with the dub.
Houston Rockets vs Golden State Warriors Prediction
- Pick: Golden State Warriors to win
- Odds: +136 (20Bet)
- Score prediction: Houston Rockets 97 -106 Golden State Warriors
The Houston Rockets are looking to somehow dig themselves out of a 3-1 hole on Wednesday after losing to the Golden State Warriors in the Bay Area. After a heartbreaking 109-106 loss, they’ve got the choice between folding in on themselves or fighting for their playoff lives.
The Warriors, with their veteran presence, have been a lot stronger down the stretch, with Curry leading the way.
For the Rockets, Alperen Şengün and Jalen Green have been playing decently, averaging 19.3 and 18 points a night, respectively, but it just hasn’t been enough to push them over the edge. Moreover, outside of Şengün, the Rockets have been weak on the glass, losing rebounds they have no business dropping.

However, even when losing, the Rockets have been a lot deeper than the Warriors in terms of their bench, with guys like Amen Thompson and Fred VanVleet playing key minutes. If they can get these guys making shots when it really matters, they could push the series to 3-2.
Even with the bench, the Rockets are going to have to be on their A-game going into game 5, as the Warriors aren’t going to give them room to breathe at all. Coach Steve Kerr will be looking to make sure they finish this series quickly.

Realistically, this will be a close game throughout, with the fourth quarter deciding the winner. With that in mind, unless injuries take hold or Curry has an off game, the veteran presence on the Warriors should help them in the fourth, inevitably moving on to the second round.
Houston Rockets vs Golden State Warriors Betting Tips
- Pick: Stephen Curry to score 29.5 or more
With the playoff experience Stephen Curry has, he will be looking to end this series in 5, saving his team from the pain of a long, gruelling series. After putting up solid numbers in every game except their loss on the 23rd, it’s not hard to imagine he’ll put up well over 30 to put the series to bed.
- Pick: Golden State Warriors to win both halves: no
- Odds: +260 (20Bet)
While the Warriors may have the stamina to put it away in the fourth quarter, that doesn’t mean they will win both halves. With the fire under the Rockets they’ll likely come out swinging, which could push them to win the first half. Especially if somebody like Fred VanFleet gets hot from beyond the arch
