After an unfortunate game 6, where the Nuggets found themselves just short of the win in the fourth quarter, the Nuggets will be looking to put this series to bed. With Russell Westbrook missing two easy layups in the fourth quarter, game 6 was super winnable for the Nuggets, if they could just lock in. There is no excuse for last night, that should’ve been their game.
However, it’s not just Westbrook; Nikola Jokić hasn’t been playing as well as many of us had hoped, with averages far below the regular season. Luckily for the Joker, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon have been balling out, making up for his slightly decreased efficiency.

On the defensive side of the ball, they’ve continued to be solid, with Jokić grabbing 2 steals a night alongside Murray’s 1.6. Their overall athletic backcourt has also done a great job at slowing the high-powered Clippers’ offence.
As long as the roleplayers on the Nuggets show up for 6, Jokić should be able to bring it home, as we all know he can take over games sometimes. If he can just put up close to 30, and the other guys continue playing as they have, this should be a done series.

The Los Angeles Clippers have fallen short of the initial trash talk, failing to put the Nuggets away in 6 games. Going into game 7, the veteran Clippers will be looking to space the floor as much as possible to take advantage of their mismatches, but they haven’t been too great in the clutch.
Kawhi Leonard, however, has seemingly turned back the hands of time, playing with the same intensity that we saw back in Toronto. His 25.2 points and 7.6 rebounds have gone a long way in the series so far. Ivica Zubac has also surprisingly stepped up to the plate with some big buckets in key moments.

James Harden’s 8.6 assists also don’t hurt, especially with the gravity he has whenever the ball is in his hands.
Defensively, they still have the same issues as the regular season, with gaping holes inside – it’s a miracle Jokić hasn’t been abusing this more.
They have a great shot at walking away with the dub, pushing into the second round, but they’re going to need somebody to take charge when it gets tough, and we’re yet to see if Leonard can really rise to the occasion.
According to sportsbooks’s they have a slight disadvantage, but with a series this close, anything could happen.

Going into this heated game 7, the Denver Nuggets are still the favorite, with nobody really wanting to count out Nikola Jokić. After losing because of a couple of bad games, the morale might be a little low, but that shouldn’t stop the Nuggets from being on their A game, especially the big guy. Jokić really has the ability to take complete control of games on the offensive side of the ball when push comes to shove.
We have to give credit where it’s due though. Ivica Zubac has done a great job at slowing Jokić so far in the series, but we could see a different beast for game 7.

However, the Clippers also have plenty of talent that has been forged in the clutch, namely Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. Harden’s efficient 19.2 points and 8.6 rebounds have been a little overlooked by most fans, but he’s been the silent engine of the offense throughout the series.
Defensively, the Nuggets definitely have the edge, as any lineup with Harden on the floor will have at least one weak defender. The Klaw and Norman Powell can do everything in their power to lockdown and cut passing lanes, but with Harden being a liability, it’s tough.

Don’t get it twisted, Jokić is by no means the best defender in the NBA, but he’s far less of a liability than Harden. He can’t jump, but his big body will make slahers think twice before attacking the rim.
All in all, this is really going to come down to who wants it down the stretch, and whose franchise player wants it more. With that in mind, Jokić has shown time and time again that 40-point triple-doubles aren’t impossible for him, so we’ve got the lean in his direction.

Despite having lower scoring averages than the regular season throughout the series, Jokić really can’t be slept on. When he really wants to put on a scoring clinic, there isn’t a defence in the league that can stop him. Going into game 7, we anticipate a much higher usage rate along with a sense of urgency that should push his scoring quite a bit.
