The Boston Celtics have continued their success into the latter half of the season, sitting as a firm title contender as the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Fresh off of a five-game winning streak, only losing to the number one seed in the East back in February. However, despite being the second seed in the east, they are likely the second-best regular season team in the NBA right now.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have continued to be the driving force behind the team’s success, with Tatum averaging a solid 27.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists, leading the team in three of four major statistical categories. Brown has also continued to excel on both ends of the floor, with the athletic guard shooting at a great clip.
However, the team has been plagued with a number of injuries, with Kristaps Porziņģis currently out, Tatum struggling with knee injuries, and Brown just coming off of a knee injury.

Nonetheless, as long as the two stars lace up, they should have a solid chance at putting away the OKC Thunder.

The Young OKC Thunder have been on an absolute tear over the last several months, dropping just 3 of their last 16 games. This has been mostly on the back of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his spectacular performances night in and night out. The younger roster is really starting to look like a leading title contender, or at least the team that will come out of the West.

SGA has been averaging a stellar 32.7 points and 8.6 assists a game, creating a ton of offence and freeing up teammates with his huge gravity on that side of the ball. Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren have also been huge, with the latter making a big impact on the defensive side of the ball.
However, SGA will likely be slowed down by the strong Celtics guards, diminishing his effectiveness and making it harder for OKC to grab the dub.

Coming off of a 5-game win streak, the Boston Celtics will be looking to push their streak to 6 at home despite the lingering injuries plaguing the roster. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown still sit as questionable for the game, while big man Kristaps Porziņģis remains out with an unspecified illness.
However, as long as Tatum and Brown play, which they should, the scoring and defensive prowess of the Celtics shouldn’t be hurt all that much, especially considering Chet Holmgren really hasn’t been torching teams on the inside this year as many had hoped he would.

Their perimeter defence will be lockdown, with Brown or Tatum likely sitting on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s hip throughout the duration of the game. You may not be able to stop the shifty guard from scoring, but as long as you can decrease his efficiency, the OKC offense will grind to a standstill as he creates most of the offense.
That’s not to say OKC will go down without a fight, especially considering they had won 7 straight before the Denver Nuggets narrowly beat them out last game. They’ll be on their best behaviour, trying to reach that 60-win threshold.

SGA will continue to score at a high volume, with Holmgren and Aaron Wiggins providing some much-needed supplementary offense. Unfortunately, though, Jalen Williams will be out for the game, hurting them on both sides of the ball.

Without Williams on the perimeter, they will really have to pick their poison on the defensive side of the ball, as SGA will have to guard one of the stars while the other has free reign to score. The 6’5 Wiggins isn’t necessarily a bad defender, but he will struggle to stay in front of either Tatum or Brown.
All in all, the Thunder have their work cut out for them, as Boston’s scoring and defensive prowess will likely back them into a corner.

While the Celtics are the firm favorite going into the match, Tatum will likely not take a huge role on the offensive side of the ball, likely honing in on SGA to slow his scoring.
