While the Argentinian giants are expected to pose a tougher challenge than Auckland, it’s unlikely to be one that’ll actually trouble manager Vincent Kompany. 

Ever since he arrived at the club, Kompany has been working on instilling a sense of discipline in the Bavarian defense. He must be more than pleased that his wards maintained a clean sheet against Auckland.

In the upcoming game, Bayern will have to make do without the services of several top players, such as Hiroki Ito, Alphonso Davies, and Min-jae Kim – absences that could test their defensive resilience. 

Nonetheless, the team have enough players on the bench who can step up in times of difficulty and rise to the occasion. As is often the case, Bayern are expected to play a lot of long balls and bring their attacking midfielders into the action. This is something Boca will have to defend heavily against.

Their setup wasn’t intricate, more a display of high-energy collision than structured pressing, but it overwhelmed Benfica until the Portuguese side capitalized on set-pieces to fight back. 

Boca maintained this bruising, relentless style throughout the match, showing traditional South American grit and pace, though Benfica eventually neutralized it with two dead-ball strikes.

Interestingly, they’ve participated in this tournament in the past and even finished as runners-up in 2007, when it was held in Japan.

Manager Miguel Russo is known for asking his wards to maintain possession for the most part, and this is usually the way Boca play. 

However, this time, they’ll find it quite difficult to keep the ball, as Bayern are known for their high-pressing tactics. The Argentinian side like to use their wings a lot, but even that could prove challenging, given how tightly the Bavarian fullbacks mark opposing wingers.

The only way they can target Kompany’s men is by being quick on the counter-attack and finding good passes when their opponents are caught out of position. Striker Edinson Cavani, formerly of Manchester United, is a doubtful starter for the upcoming clash, while Marco Pellegrino has been ruled out with an injury.
