Manager Kompany has been one of the most vocal advocates of short passes, and Bayern have adjusted excellently to his philosophy. He’s also known to ask for a clinical nature from his defenders, which often results in the squad building from the back. One way Auckland City can counter the Bavarians is by shifting their formation and dropping five players into defense whenever they lose the ball.
