Barcelona vs Real Madrid Preview and Team News

Barcelona Team News

Barcelona and Real Madrid meet in an El Clásico in the final of the Copa del Rey on Saturday in Seville.

While Barcelona are in with a chance of winning the treble this season, Real Madrid are not nursing any such hopes. Both these rivals are currently ranked in the top two positions of La Liga, with Barca at the top and Madrid following closely in second, four points behind.

Under manager Hansi Flick, Barca have showcased why they are a completely different side this season, and have the chance of aiming for the UEFA Champions League title, where they will face Inter in the semifinals.

Their gameplay has considerably improved this season, with attacks coming from the wings quite frequently. Their defenders too have been in fine form, even though injuries have hampered their cause from time to time.

In this game, Flick will have to make do without the services of Alejandro Balde, Marc Bernal, Marc Casado, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, and Robert Lewandowski

The last two absentees will hurt Barca the most since they have contributed a lot to their growth this season. Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has been the pillar in their defence while Lewandowski’s experience in the forward line has held Barca in good stead.

Barcelona predicted lineup vs Real Madrid (4-3-2-1): Szczesny; Kounde, Cubarsi, Araujo, Martin; De Jong, Pedri, Fermin; Yamal, Raphinha; Torres.

Real Madrid Team News

Real Madrid, left disappointed after being knocked out by Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League, will aim to lift this trophy and pocket a major silverware this season.

While the league looks daunting, with Barcelona in the driver’s seat, winning the Copa del Rey will ignite passions among the Madrid fans and give them something to cheer about during the business end of the season.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly set to leave the club by the end of this month, as the hierarchy feels his tactics and strategies are no longer effective, and he will want to exit with a trophy under his belt.

In this game, Madrid will miss their star striker Kylian Mbappé the most, who has been ruled out with an ankle injury he picked up in the Champions League quarterfinals against Arsenal.

Daniel Carvajal, Éder Militão and Ferland Mendy continue to remain the long-term absentees for Madrid, the former two with ACL injuries, and the latter with a hamstring issue.

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Valverde, Asencio, Rüdiger, Garcia; Tchouaméni, Camavinga; Brahim Díaz, Bellingham, Vinicius; Rodrygo.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction

  • Pick: Barcelona to win or draw
  • Odds: -303 (20Bet)
  • Score prediction: Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid

Barcelona are expected to either win or draw this game. They have won the last three matches against Madrid, and the fact that they are currently on top of the league standings will make them the favourites to have the upper hand here.

Madrid do not have Mbappé in this game, and this will make them seem toothless at the top. Either Vinicius or Rodrygo will have to play as the centre-forward.

The issue of attack will also haunt Barcelona, as Lewandowski is out injured. He suffered a thigh injury in the recent La Liga match against Celta Vigo, and he might even miss the Champions League semifinals against Inter.

Although both teams need to be sharp in front of the goal, Barca’s added composure gives them an edge.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction, Betting Tip

  • Pick: Both teams to score
  • Odds: -189 (20Bet)

It goes without saying that our second pick for this game will be for both teams to score (BTTS).

What else can we expect when the likes of Yamine Lamal, Ferran Torres and Raphinha turn out for Barcelona and Vinicius, Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham ply their trade for Real Madrid?

Both these teams are blessed with top-quality attackers, which makes this game an excellent one to watch for neutral spectators.

Neither of these teams like to lose possession early, which makes it difficult for their opponents to play through the lines.

Five out of the last six matches played between these teams saw both of them getting onto the scoresheet, and this reaffirms our intuition for this one too.
