AC Milan vs Pisa Preview and Team News

AC Milan Team News

AC Milan are currently the leaders of the Serie A table. However, they have quite a few injury concerns in their squad. Pervis Estupinan, Adrien Rabiot, Ardon Jashari, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, and Christopher Nkunku have all been sidelined.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri prefers a rather unusual 3-5-1-1 formation that places heavy emphasis on midfield control. His midfielders are responsible for dictating the rhythm of their team’s passing and determining the cadence at which they play.

Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric are two of the most important players operating in the center of the park for the Rossoneri. The duo complement each other, with one of them standing firm in front of their defenders while the latter pushes forward in a more box-to-box role.

Milan have scored 10 goals in their last five outings and have also kept the most clean sheets in the competition (4). They’ve recently beaten Fiorentina 2-1.

AC Milan predicted lineup vs Pisa (3-5-1-1): Maignan; Pavlovic, Gabbia, Tomori; Bartesaghi, Ricci, Modric, Fofana, Athekame; Saelemaekers; Leao.

Pisa Team News

Pisa remain winless this season and sit at the bottom of the table. They face a mountain of a challenge against the Rossoneri and will need to play out of their skins to stay competitive. Moreover, playing away from home adds another layer of difficulty, as Pisa will have to endure the chants Milan fans routinely direct at visiting teams.

They have three injured players in their squad: Daniel Denoon, Tomas Esteves, and Calvin Stengs. Manager Alberto Gilardino prefers a 3-5-2 formation, which recently helped them keep a clean sheet in a goalless draw with Hellas Verona. Pisa impressed with 60% possession and a high passing accuracy of 82%.

Although their overall xG stood at 0.65, their xG from set pieces was quite high at 0.34 compared to their opponents’ 0.18. The Nerazzurri can still sharpen their finishing in the final third, as they failed to register a single shot on target against Verona.

Pisa predicted lineup vs AC Milan (3-5-2): Semper; Canestrelli, Albiol, Caracciolo; Angori, Marin, Aebischer, Akinsanmiro, Leris; Nzola, Moreo.

AC Milan vs Pisa Prediction

  • Pick: AC Milan to win
  • Odds: -357 (20Bet)
  • Correct score prediction: AC Milan 3-0 Pisa

We expect AC Milan to win. They’re the best team in the Serie A at the moment, while their opponents sit at the very bottom of the standings. There’s simply no comparison between the two sides in terms of quality and experience. The Rossoneri have plenty of top forwards and midfielders in their ranks who can make life a living hell for the Pisa defenders.

It won’t be easy for the visitors to retain the ball for long periods of time at the San Siro, given that Milan like to press high and regain possession as quickly as they lose it. The hosts should be able to dominate this encounter.

AC Milan vs Pisa Prediction, Betting Tip

  • Pick: Both teams NOT to score
  • Odds: -143 (20Bet)

We don’t expect both teams to score here. Milan should be the only side finding the back of the net while keeping a clean sheet. The hosts have a very experienced squad, with central midfielder Modric running the show right from the center of the park. Pisa, on the other hand, rely heavily on central defender Raul Albiol to dictate terms in defense, with the 40-year-old’s pace not having gone down a notch at all.

Still, the visitors have a highly inexperienced unit, especially in attack, and we don’t believe that they’ll be able to breach the Milan defense. Pisa striker M’Bala Nzola had the fewest touches (30) of any outfield player to play 90 minutes against Verona and will be closely marked by the Rossoneri defenders. Allegri’s men, meanwhile, have kept a clean sheet in three of their last five outings.
